The goalless draw was a test for the defenders on both sides.
Southern giants Kerala Blasters and newcomers Odisha FC played out a drab 0-0 draw at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi. The Men in Yellow were the better team for the majority of the game, but weren’t able to apply the final blow despite having multiple chances to do so. The best chance of the game fell to Rahul KP in the final seconds, but some excellent work from Francisco Dorronsoro denied him the winner, as both teams took home a share of the spoils. The worrying part for both managers will be that neither team created any clear-cut chances in the entirety of the match. TP Rehenesh- 7.0
Was untroubled for major parts of the game, as the Odisha FC attackers created nothing of any real conviction. He stayed strong from set-pieces and ensured that there were no second balls for Odisha in the box.Mohammad Rakip- 6.5
The wing-back showed serious signs of fatigue in the second half, but kept pushing till the final whistle. However, his delivery in the box could certainly do with a bit of improving.Raju Gaikwad- 5.5
The stand-in centre-half looked like a ticking time-bomb waiting to self-destruct and gift Odisha a goal. He didn’t do all that badly, but had a couple of horror moments in the game.Jessel Carneiro- 6.0
The full-back’s final delivery was horrible on occasion and he didn’t offer the Kerala players any opportunity with his set-pieces into the box either. Did well from a defensive viewpoint though.Prasanth Karuthadathkuni- 6.5
Like most of the Kerala players, began to look fatigued in the second half, but pushed on into the final stages. Needs to work on making smarter decisions once he enters the final third.Sahal Abdul Samad- 6.0
Began the game looking extremely lively, as he looked to make things happen for Kerala. In the second half, he seemed to have gone completely invisible and was largely a spectator.Rahul K.P- 6.5
Was gifted the best chance of the night, when a flick-on from substitute Bartholomew Ogbeche found him in acres of space. However, he didn’t finish with any conviction as the keeper stopped it with ease.Substitutes
Abdul Hakku- 6.0
Did well in the heart of the defence after an injury to Jairo Rodrigues took him out of the game early. Offered a lot more composure and quality than his defensive partner Raju Gaikwad.Mohammed Rafi- 5.0
Came on in place of the injured Messi Bouli and struggled to affect the game in any way. His performance was so bad that Eelco Schattorie took him off again in the second half.Odisha FC
Shubham Sarangi- 6.0
Like most of the other players on the night, had a relatively easy outing with neither team applying any real pressure. Made a couple of good passes to push his team out of defence.Rana Gharami- 6.0
The defender had a lot of attacks to deal with in the first half, but did his job ably. Like many of the players, the lack of fitness began to show as the defence seemed to simply capitulate in the final minutes.Narayan Das- 6.0
Although, the full-back didn’t offer anything in an attacking sense, his defensive solidity went a long way in the encounter. He blocked multiple crosses and kept the Kerala wingers at arm’s length. [KH_RELATED_NEWS title="Related News | ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW"][/KH_RELATED_NEWS]Vinit Rai- 5.5
Struggled to have any impact in midfield, as neither team was able to take control. He lost the ball too many times in the second half, owing to some lazy and tired passes.Jerry Mawihmingthanga- 7.5
The only Indian player on the pitch who showed any signs of quality, Jerry had a characteristically balanced game on the flank for Odisha. He caused Kerala’s makeshift backline a lot of issues.Nandha Kumar- 6.0
Offered next to nothing going forward, as he was often seen kicking the ball back to the opposition and making pointless runs down the flank. Needs to work on his delivery and finishing, as he missed a golden chance in the second half.Substitutes
Daniel Lalhlimpuia- 6.0
Did well holding up the ball after coming on in place of Santana, but didn’t have an edge in the box. He wasn’t able to impact the game in any way whatsoever.Latest News
