Uttiyo Sarkar

The striker scored his second successive hat-trick in the tournament.

India sailed into the final of the SAFF U-15 Championship 2019, routing Bangladesh 0-4 at the Kalyani Stadium on Thursday. On a rain-soaked fied, the poor conditions couldn’t break their spirit, as Himanshu Jangra’s hat-trick of headers and Shubho Paul’s late goal gave Bibiano Fernandes’ boys a dominant win. The Blue Colts face Nepal in the final on Saturday. Here are the player ratings from the game:

Watch: Bibiano Fernandes post-match press conference

India:

Mohit Singh Dhami- 6.5

Dhami was mostly untested, but lept into action late in the first half by making a solid diving save. He also followed up with some promising stops in the second period, keeping his clean-sheet.

Ranjan Soren- 7.0

The confident right-back kept Bangladesh’s left wing relatively quiet, making strong challenges and showing his prowess aerially.

Anish Mazumder- 7.0

The Indian captain impressed with his composed demeanour and assertive style in volatile conditions. Made some strong challenges and kept Nova under wraps.

Halen Nongtdu- 6.5

Halen partnered his captain pretty well, often sniffing out attacks to make crucial clearances or recovery tackles.

Shameek Caine Vas- 5.0

Shameek was tested heavily by the dangerous Shuvo Sarkar and often got outwitted by him.

While he did make some impressive recovery challenges, he was lucky not to get exposed.

Satvik Sharma- 7.5

Sharma impressed with his composure on the ball

The proactive midfielder ruled the roost in his part of the pitch, being in the thick of the action. Not only did he hurriedly recover possession, but was also creative with his distribution.

Was rewarded with an assist when his free-kick was flicked on by Jangra. Combined with him again when his looping free-kick was met by the striker.

Renedy Meitei Yumnam- 5.5

The right winger was isolated, but showed signs of promise with some menacing movement.

Aula Siba Prasad- 6.5

Prasad displayed a hungry vibe down the left. Took a promising swipe on target in the first half, forcing Bangladesh’s keeper into action. Kept up his energetic demeanour, winning set-pieces and causing trouble for Hridoy.

Amosa Lalnundanga- 6.0

He accompanied Satvik pretty well, forcing the ball forward and not allowing the opponents to penetrate through midfield.

Himanshu Jangra- 9.0

Despite the rain-soaked environment, Jangra’s goalscoring determination wasn’t hindered. He moved forward with intent on the field. He was rewarded when his lucky header floated into goal in the 30th minute to give India the lead. Doubled the advantage in the 74th with another emphatic header past Srabon.

Completed his hat-trick with another smart header at the near post.  Jangra was unlucky not to get a fourth when his free-kick struck the bar and Paul scored instead. He's now the joint top scorer of the U-15 SAFF Championship.

Isac Zomuanpuia- 6.5

Isac was left isolated just behind Jangra, rarely getting involved in moves and looking somewhat discomforted. Received some freedom in the second period and had a shot sky over the bar. Assisted Jangra’s goal with a corner in the 78th minute.

Substitutes

Shubho Paul- 6.0

Came on late, but grabbed a fortunate goal when Srabon fumbled from a free-kick, allowing him to tap in from a few yards out.

Paogoumang Singson- NA

Singson also got a few minutes of play and helped the Blue Colts retain their clean-sheet.

Bangladesh:

Mehdi Hasan Srabon- 4.5

Srabon was pretty impressive with his distribution, but failed with his shot-stopping ability. Was outsmarted by Jangra for the opener, while he couldn’t keep out his other two strikes either. Couldn’t stop his looping free-kick later on, gifting a fourth goal to India.

Kazirul Islam Hridoy- 5.5

The right-back was strong with his defensive work, often dispossessing his man and making good clearances. Linked well with Sarkar going forward. Phased out as the game progressed and substituted.

Mohammad Ananto- 5.5

The captain held a decent defensive line despite the horrible conditions to play in. Did well to keep up with Jangra in open play, but was unable to keep track of him for the set-piece goals.

Rajib Hossain- 5.0

Hossain did well to contain Isac, but struggled against Jangra. Was not convincing aerially, failing to mark the striker for either finishes.

Apurbo Mali- 5.5

Mali did well to keep Renedy quiet, often putting in strong tackles and clearances to avoid trouble. Couldn’t provide anything going forward.

Shuvo Sarkar- 7.0

Sarkar was Bangladesh's best performer

The visitors' most promising player, Shuvo was a constant threat down the right. He moved with intent throughout, even blasting a shot over the bar from open space early in the second half.

Cut back a terrific ball later, but his compatriot couldn’t finish despite being in a prime position.

Badsha Mia- 6.5

Mia was quite the energetic cog in Bangladesh’s midfield, running around the soggy field throughout. He also contributed in attack, with his powerful header being saved late in the first half. Substituted after running out of steam.

Arifar Rahman Raju- 5.5

Raju held his position quite well, distributing the ball to his attack, but couldn’t create any clear-cut chances. Grew ineffective in the second-half and got subbed off.

Jayonto Lal- 5.5

The left-sided player roamed forward with intent, but couldn’t get the better off Soren or put in any inviting crosses.

MD Piash Ahmmed Nova- 4.5

Nova was completely wasted, being marked tightly by the Indian defenders and struggling to cope with the conditions.

Al Mirad- 5.0

The #9 also couldn’t produce many shots to test the opposition keeper, but looked brighter with his movement. He drove forward to cause problems throughout, but lacked that cutting-edge in the final third.

Substitutes:

MD Alamin Rahman- 5.5

Rahman came on to create chances for his side, but was unable to do anything of note.

Jony Sikder- 5.5

Sikder was unable to get his side forward, not being able to pull out anything inspirational.
