List of nations qualified for FIH Men's Hockey World Cup 2023

India will be hosting the quadrennial mega event for the fourth time in history.

A total of 16 countries are set to participate in the FIH Men's Hockey World Cup 2023 to be held in Odisha, India. Chile and Wales will be making their debut in the world meet while Canada and Ireland are the ones to miss out on the previous edition, which too was held in India. The 16 teams are divided into four pools with each pool consisting of four teams.

India qualified for the Men's Hockey World Cup 2023 as host while the other teams qualified by participating in their respective continental championships.

2021 EuroHockey Championships

England, Belgium, Netherlands, Spain, and Germany qualified for the World Cup by finishing in the top five places. The Netherlands were the champions defeating Germany in the finals with Belgium finishing in the third spot.

2021 European Qualifier

Wales and France progressed through to the World Cup after reaching the finals of the European Challenger. A total of eight teams participated in the tournament with Wales beating France in the finals.

The 2022 African Cup of Nations

South Africa took the lone spot defeating Egypt in the finals with Nigeria finishing in the third spot.

The 2022 Pan American Cup

Argentina beat Chile in the finals claiming their fourth title with both teams progressing to the World Cup. A total of seven teams participated in fighting for two spots.

2022 Asia Cup

Three countries Japan, South Korea, and Malaysia finished in the top three spots with South Korea emerging as the champions defeating Malaysia in the finals. India finished in the third spot but with India already securing a quota as hosts, Japan qualified by finishing fourth.

2022 Oceania Cup

The Oceania cup wasn't held in 2022. So the top two teams from the confederations (Australia and New Zealand) were awarded the spots.
