Australian Open 2023: Updated Day 1 Schedule
Top seeds Rafael Nadal and Iga Swiatek will be in action.
The first grand slam of the 2023 season, Australian Open 2023, is set to begin from January 16 to January 29, 2023. Novak Djokovic, the nine-time men's singles champion at Melbourne Park, will be back after missing out in the last edition. Rafael Nadal is the defending champion in men’s singles with Ashleigh Barty the defending champion in women’s singles. The Australian, however, retired midway through 2022. Check out the schedule of the Australian Open 2023.
There are also a number of injury concerns meaning few title contenders have pulled out from the Australian Open 2023. The men's singles event will be missing current World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz, who is out with a right leg injury. Also out is 2018 Australian Open finalist Marin Cilic.
In the women's section, defending men's singles champion Ashleigh Barty has retired and will not be defending her crown. Venus Williams, who was awarded a wildcard entry, has pulled out after an injury while Naomi Osaka announced her pregnancy and will not be available.
With Alcaraz missing, Rafael Nadal will be the top seed in men's singles. Iga Swiatek and Ons Jabeur will be the first and second seeds in the women's singles. Both top seeds in men's and women's singles will be in action on the opening day.
Which Indian players will be in action on Australian Open 2023 day 1?
