The tournament is finally taking place on December 14 after multiple postponements due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Indian hockey team will be participating in the Men’s Asian Champions Trophy 2021, hosted in Dhaka, Bangladesh from 14 December onwards. Manpreet Singh will lead the outfit after their historic bronze medal-winning campaign at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The team has a lot of fresh faces without the likes of veteran goalkeeper PR Sreejesh, giving them an opportunity to impress.

India and Pakistan are joint defending champions of the tournament, after they were declared joint-winners of the 2018 edition due to rainy conditions. The tournament will involve the six best Asian countries competing in a round-robin format. In recent times, India has won the Champions Trophy in 2011, 2016 and 2018.

Graham Reid's men will face the likes of South Korea, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Japan. Malaysia was also set to take part but have withdrawn from the tournament.
