Indian Sports Calendar in 2023: Major events to watch in fifth week of June

Neeraj Chopra will return to action after month's break due to injury.
A lot of sporting events are lined up for the upcoming week of the Indian sports calendar. Table tennis action will shift from Africa to Europe (Zagreb) this week. India had an excellent time in Africa with Harmeet Desai defeating three top 30 players alongside the doubles team. In football, the SAFF championships is set to reach the final stages with India qualifying for the semi-finals. in Athletics, Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra is set to return to the field after a month's break due to injury.
Here we take a look at the events to follow in the upcoming week (June 26-02 July) in the Indian sports calendar.
Athletics
Reigning Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra and former national record holder Murali Sreeshankar will be taking part in the prestigious Lausanne leg of the Diamond League. World Lead Jeswin Aldrin who initially entered the meet pulled out in order to recover quickly for the upcoming competitions.

Football
The blue tigers defeated archrivals Pakistan and Nepal in Group A and progressed to the semi-finals of the SAFF Championships 2023. They will take on much fancied Kuwait in the final group game to decide the group toppers. Sunil Chettri as always showed his brilliance scoring a hat-trick in the opening encounter against Pakistan and a goal against Nepal leading the goal scoring charts with four goals.

Table Tennis
After two weeks of action in Africa, the WTT Contender moves to Europe (Zagreb) and the top Indian paddlers will once again be in action. Sharath Kamal and Manika Batra will be leading the Indian contingent and are the only ones to make it to the main draw in the singles. Sathiyan Gnanasekaran and Harmeet Desai will have to make it through from the qualifying rounds.

Tennis
All the players will be grinding out hard this week with the Wimbledon Championships just a week away. India's Yuki Bhambri is set to pair up against Lloyd Harris at the Mallorca International. His usual partner Saketh Myneni is out of action for a week.
