Neeraj Chopra to join Jeswin Aldrin, Murali Sreeshankar in Lausanne leg of Diamond League

The reigning Olympic champion will be making a return after recovering from injury.
India’s Neeraj Chopra (Javelin Throw), Jeswin Aldrin and Murali Sreeshankar (Long Jump) are set to take part in the Lausanne Diamond League set to be held on June 30th. Reigning Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra will be returning back from an injury after having missed out out on two meets earlier (FBK Games and Paavo Nurmi Games).
The 24-year-old started the season on a bright note notching up a world leading throw at the Doha Diamond League and clinching the top spot. However, with Neeraj going out of action for almost a month due to an injury, his WL was overtaken by Jakub Vadlejch (89.31m) at the Paavo Nurmi Games (June 13th).
World top two Long Jumpers currently Jeswin Aldrin and Murali Sreeshankar are set to don the competition and will be taking part alongside Tokyo Olympic gold medalists Mitliadis Tentouglou and Tobias Montler. The latter recently took part in the Paris Diamond League and clinched the third spot with a best jump of 8.09m.

Jeswin Aldrin, on the other hand, has looked completely off colour since his national record performance at the Open Jumps competition (jumping 8.42m to record a world lead jump). The National record holder will have a tough task ahead of the Asian Games and World Athletics Championships.
Sreeshankar was set to take part in the Oslo Diamond League but with AFI (Athletics Federation of India) making the participation mandatory for the Inter states Athletics meet for the qualification to Asian Games 2022, the Keralite had to forego the Diamond League event. Other Indians in the fray, Avinash Sable will be heading to Sweden on July to take part in the Stockholm Diamond League followed by Praveen Chitravel (Monaco Diamond League).
The Asian Athletics Championships is also set to take place in July and it is going to be an important month for the Indian athletes going forward to the World Athletics Championships and Asian Games.
