Indian Sports Calendar in 2023: Major events to watch in second week of July

The all-important Asian Athletics Championships will take place this week.
A lot of sporting events are lined up in the upcoming week of the Indian sports calendar. The Asian Athletics Championships will be a high profile competition for all the Indian athletes ahead of the World Championships and the Asian Games. The tennis action will continue to move on to the second week of July at the Wimbledon Championships 2023.
The badminton action post the Canada Open will shift south to the USA Open, which is a BWF 300 tournament.
Here we take a look at the events to follow in the upcoming week (July 10-16) in the Indian sports calendar.
Athletics
The Asian Athletics Championships is set to take place from July 12-16 in Bangkok, Thailand. Long Jumper Murali Sreeshankar and Decathlete Tejaswin Shankar are set to lead the Indian contingent at the meet.

Aquatics
The World Championships is set to serve as a qualifying event for the Paris Olympics. Swimmers achieving the specified "A" qualification mark will secure a quota for next year. Also this is will be a major tournament before the Continental Games scheduled to be held in September.

Badminton
The BWF tour from Canada will shift to the USA; a BWF 300 tournament. PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen will continue to lead the Indian contingent in the North America tour.

Cricket
The ongoing Duleep Trophy will enter its final stage with South Zone set to take on West Zone in the grand finale. The final is scheduled to be held at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium from July 12 to 16. The Indian women's cricket team will also be in action later this week for the first time since their T20 World Cup semi-final heartbreak in South Africa in February.
The Indian men's cricket team after the World Test Championships loss move to the Carribean for a month-long series consisting of Test, ODI's and T20.

Table Tennis
After a month long WTT Tour in Africa and Europe, the action now shifts to UTT (Ultimate Table Tennis). The fourth season is set to feature six franchises which is scheduled to be held from July 13 to 30.

Tennis
Three Indian doubles pair received main draw entry at the 136th edition of Wimbledon. Yuki Bhambri and Saketh Myneni along with Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and Sriram Balaji got into the main draw as alternate pair. Bopanna entered the second round in men's doubles alongside Matthew Ebden and is set to play the opening round with Gabriella Dabrowski in mixed doubles.

Weightlifting
A 16-member Indian weightlifting contingent are set to take part in the Commonwealth Championships. Tokyo Olympics silver medallist, Mirabai Chanu, is set to miss the event as she undergoes rehabilitation for a thigh injury in USA.

Wrestling
Vinesh Phogat will be the only wrestler from Indian taking part in the Budapest Ranking series. This is also the last major tournament before the World Championships and the Asian Games.
