Paris Olympics 2024 Badminton Day 1 Highlights: Satwik-Chirag, Lakshya Sen start with wins; Ashwini-Tanisha faces defeat
Lakshya Sen will be in action on day 1.
Indian badminton is yet to win a gold medal at the Summer Games and will look to break that streak at the upcoming Paris Olympics 2024. All eyes will be on the former World Rank #1 Indian pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, the French Open and Asian Games champions, who will be the frontrunners in India’s quest to accomplish a historic gold.
HS Prannoy and PV Sindhu, India’s top-ranked men’s and women’s singles players respectively, will be aiming to clinch medals at the world’s most prestigious sporting event. Commonwealth Games gold medalist Lakshya Sen will hope to make his debut Olympics memorable by winning a medal.
Meanwhile, the women’s doubles pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto will be looking to deliver a spirited performance in their debut Olympics as a pair.
India’s badminton contingent comprises of seven members including four male and three female shuttlers. This squad was decided on the basis of their BWF Race to Paris Rankings.

Badminton at the 2024 Olympics Games is scheduled to start on July 27 and will conclude on August 5. All badminton matches will be held at Paris Arena II/ Porte de La Chapelle Arena (Adidas arena) in the city of Paris, France.
