Paris Olympics 2024 Day 5 Results: Swapnil Kusale enters final; Sindhu, Lakshya, Prannoy reach last 16
Lakshya Sen, PV Sindhu and HS Prannoy remain unbeaten in group stage to qualify for round of 16.
Indian athletes were in action across various disciplines such as badminton, shooting, rowing, table tennis, boxing, archery and equestrian on Day 5 of Paris Olympics 2024. Wednesday saw the Indian contingent get closer to achieving medal ambitions in their respective disciplines.
Lakshya Sen enthralled the crowd by defeating World No. #3 shuttler Jonathan Christie to move to round of 16. Multiple Olympic medallist PV Sindhu was also amongst the winners on the day as she made short work of her Estonian opponent to enter the round of 16.
However, there were mixed results in table tennis as Sreeja Akula and Manika Batra bowed out of women’s singles after losing their respective Round of 16 matches. While Manika went down against Japan’s Miu Hirano, Sreeja conceded game points in two consecutive games to lose 0-4 against World No. #1
Swapnil Kusale did well in the shooting discipline to secure qualification into the final round of the Men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions event. In the same event, Aishwary Pratap Singh delivered a disappointing performance and finished 11th in the qualification round.
There was a lot of action in the archery, rowing and equestrian disciplines too as Indian athletes put their best foot forward at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Here is a rundown of the action from Wednesday:
