Paris Olympics 2024: India schedule for today Day 7 (August 2)

Swapnil Kusale won India’s third medal at Paris Olympics 2024.

Swapnil Kusale on Day 6 won India’s first ever Olympic medal in men’s 3P 50m rifle shooting event. His victory ensured India’s third bronze medal at Paris Olympics 2024. Apart from Kusale’s medal, Thursday proved to be a setback for India.

Two-time World Champion Nikhat Zareen crashed out in Round of 16 after losing 0-5 to Asian Champion and top seed Wu Yu. In shooting events, World record holder Sift Kaur Samra finished 31st in the women’s 3P 50m rifle while Anjum Moudgil secured the 18th rank.

Other shocking results were seen in Badminton men’s doubles as former World No. #1 Indian duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty marked an exit despite winning the opening game against Tokyo bronze medallists Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik in the quarterfinals of Paris Olympics 2024.

In sailing, Vishnu Saravanan is currently placed 25th after two races in men’s dinghy. He will need to finish in the top 10 to qualify to stay in contention for a medal. In the women’s event, Nethra Kumanan is placed sixth after the first race as the second race got postponed.

Amongst shuttlers, Lakshya Sen became the third Indian male shuttler to reach the quarterfinals at Olympics. Sen defeated fellow compatriot HS Prannoy in straight games. Meanwhile in Hockey, the Indian men’s hockey team suffered their first defeat at Paris Olympics 2024 against Belgium. The team lost 1-2 as it could not captialize on an early goal from Abhishek.

On day 7 of India at Paris Olympics, star shooter Manu Bhaker will again be on action fighting for her third medal in women’s 25m pistol. Skeet event will also start on Friday with Anantjeet Naruka in action.

Dhiraj Bommadevara and Ankita Bhakat after back-to-back disappointments, will have a chance to fight back in the mixed team events. Golf and sailing will continue in action. In athletics feed, Parul Chowdhury and Tajinderpal Singh Toor will be competing in the qualification round.
