Paris Olympics 2024 Day 9 Results: Indian hockey team reach semis; Lakshya Sen, Lovlina Borgohain falter
It was a day of more lows and less high for the Indian contingent.
The 4th of August was supposed to be a big day for the Indian contingent at the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024 in France. All the eyes were on the Indian men’s hockey team which was playing against Great Britain in the quarter-final. Moreover, Lakshya Sen was also set to play a crucial semi-final contest against the mighty Viktor Axelsen for a place in the final.
Unfortunately, Lakshya Sen lost his battle and now has to win the bronze medal match to return with a medal from Paris. However, the Indian men’s hockey team recorded a magnificent win over their opponents to reach the semis and get one step closer to ensuring a medal for the country.
Indian fans also had to contend with Lovlina Borgohain losing her quarterfinal bout and failing to secure a medal by a whisker in boxing after Nishant Dev’s narrow loss yesterday. Plenty of other notable athletes were also involved in shooting, sailing, and athletic events but there was little to celebrate from their performances.
