Paris Olympics 2024: Updated medal tally after 5th August 2024, Day 10

Team USA continued to lead the medal tally after Day 10.
One of the major highlights of Paris Olympics 2024 has been the sportsmanship spirit and the record-breaking feats of top athletes in various disciplines from different countries of the world. On Sunday (August 5), several notable individuals were in action across disciplines such as athletics, badminton, artistic gymnastics and more.
India were close to winning a medal on two occasions. Shuttler Lakshya Sen was a game away from winning the bronze medal against Lee Zii Jia but could not execute the finish. In shooting, the pair of Maheshwari Chauhan and Anantjeet Singh Naruka lost the bronze medal playoff against China by a single point.
A lot of gold medal events also took place on the day which kept the race for the top spot in the medal table unpredictable. For the second consecutive day at Paris Olympics 2024, four medals were awarded in a podium. The men’s horizontal bar final saw Japan win gold, Colombia take silver while China and Chinese Taipei shared the bronze medal.
In the men’s pole vault, Swede’s Mondo Duplantis again broke the world record as he soared over 6.25m to win gold comfortably. Sam Kendricks of USA won silver and Emmanouil Karalis of Greece followed up with Bronze.

Day 10 of Paris Olympics 2024 began with Germany taking the gold medal in mixed triathlon and a photo finish was required to determine the silver medallists. Britain had initially won the silver, but they were finally awarded bronze as USA won silver. The final event of the day saw France settling for silver against Netherlands in the men’s 3×3 basketball event.
Updated medal tally after 5 August at Paris Olympics 2024
Team USA leads the medal tally with 21 gold medals, 30 silver and 28 bronze. Simone Biles settled for the silver in women’s floor exercise event under Artistic Gymnastics, her fellow countrywoman Jordan Chiles took the bronze medal.
In the shooting event, the pair of Austen Jewell Smith and Vincent Hancock finished with a silver medal as they narrowly missed the top spot in the podium. Valarie Allman defended her Olympic title with ease in women’s discus throw.
Close second in the medal tally is China, who continued their impressive performance at the Paris Olympics 2024 by adding more gold medals to the nation’s overall tally. It has now won 21 gold medals, 18 silver and 14 bronze. Li Yuehong won gold in men’s 25m Rapid Fire pistol shooting while Wang Xinjie took the bronze medal.
Over to Artistic Gymnastics, Zou Jingyuan won gold in the men’s parallel bars and Zhou Yaqin took silver in women’s balance beam. Feng Bin delivered with a silver medal in women’s discus throw.
France retained their third place in the medal tally but could not win a gold in the final event of the day which was men’s 3×3 basketball. The hosts have 13 gold medals, 16 silver and 19 bronze. They could only win two medals on day 10. France won the silver in 3×3 men’s basketball and Angele Hug finished second in women’s Kayak cross.
In fourth spot at the medal tally is Australia with 13 gold medals, 12 silver and eight bronze. Noemie Fox won the nation’s only medal of day 10, a gold in women’s Kayak cross. Fox’s medal helped Australia overtake France in the medal tally.
Great Britain had a good day was it won five medals to stay in fifth place. They have collected 12 gold medals, 13 silver and 17 bronze. Kimberly woods won the bronze in women’s Kayak cross while Joseph Clarke won silver in the men’s event. The women’s team in cycling sprint won gold and Keely Hodgkinson won gold in spectacular fashion in women’s 800m.
