Paris Olympics 2024: Updated medal tally after 8th August 2024, Day 13
The race for the top spot in the medal table is heating up.
As the Paris Olympics 2024 in France is progressing towards its end, the athletes who are still in contention for medals are producing iconic performances. The race for the top spot in the medal table is heating with two direct competitors doing their best to finish with most number of gold medals.
The day began with Sharon van Rouwendaal of Netherlands winning gold in women’s 10km marathon swimming. There was good news for Netherlands again in men’s hockey as they won gold in a thriling shootout. Taking third place on the podium was the Indian men’s hockey team after a close contest with Spain.
It was a postive day for India as it added two medals. The second medal was through Neeraj Chopra who win silver in men’s javelin throw. The gold was secured by Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem who went on to break the Olympic record by throwing 92.27 metres. It was Pakistan’s first medal at Paris Olympics 2024.

Table toppers and triple digit medal winners United States of America has now collected 30 gold medals, 38 silvers and 35 bronze. The day did not begin well for USA but it ended perfectly for them. Tara Davis-Woodhall won gold in women’s long jump as Jasmine Moore finished third. Kenneth Bednarek took silver in men’s 200m while Noah Lyles had to settle for bronze.
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone broke her own world record while securing gold in women’s 400m hurdles. 26-year-old Anna Cockrell finished second. In men’s 110m hurdles, the results were similar as Grant Holloway finished first and Daniel Roberts won silver.
China is now in second place of the medal tally with 29 gold medals, 25 silvers and 19 bronze. The nation enjoyed a brilliant day as they won gold in Canoe Sprint’s Men’s Canoe Double 500m Finals event. Furthermore, another gold medal went to the Chinese contingent in the diving discipline. Xie Siyi and Wang Zongyuan secured the first and second place.
The third gold was secured in weightlifting by Luo Shifang in Women’s 59kg event. Chang Yuan won the fourth gold medal of the day for the nation in women’s 54 kg boxing.
Australia’s held on to its position as they are in third place with 18 gold medals, 14 silvers and 13 bronze. Moesha Johnson started the day with a silver medal in women’s 10km marathon swimming. Seven hours later, the men’s kayak four finished second under canoe sprint.
Coming in fourth place at Paris Olympics 2024 is France with 14 gold medals, 19 silvers and 21 bronze. Benjamin Thomas won the only gold in the day for France in men’s Omnium Points Race event from the Cycling Track discipline, giving the hosts a reason to celebrate. Lauriane Nolot claimed silver in women’s kite under sailing. Billal Bennama secured the silver medal in men’s 51 kg boxing.
Fifth place Great Britain too has not seen changes in its postion at the medal tally. They have now won 13 gold medals, 17 silvers and 21 bronze. Eleanor Aldridge won gold in women’s kite under sailing and Emma Finucane finished third in women’s Keirin cycling event.
