Paris Olympics 2024: Which States do India's Paris-bound athletes come from?
India will be sending its largest-ever contingent to Paris.
The Paris Olympics 2024 is just around the corner, and India, with its biggest-ever contingent, is all set to compete in the most prestigious tournament. This will be India’s 26th appearance in the Olympic Games. The Indian camp consists of 117 athletes, including the men’s hockey team. The tournament will be held from July 26 to August 11 in Paris, France.
India’s overall Olympic tally stands at 35, including 10 gold, 9 silver, and 15 bronze medals. Back in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the nation bagged seven medals with 1 gold, 2 silver, and 4 bronze medals, and will be looking to enter the double-digit mark this time around.
Just like the Asian Games 2022 and CWG before that, the state of Haryana (24) dominates with the most athletes representing the country in Paris, followed by neighbouring Punjab with 19 athletes. The southern state of Tamil Nadu ranks third with 13 athletes. This widespread representation highlights India’s diverse strength across regions.

Athletics will also have two reserve players in Mijo Chacko Kurian and Prachi Choudhary Kaliyar for the relay events.
N. Sriram Balaji will be competing in men’s doubles despite not qualifying based on rankings, as Rohan Bopanna, being in the top 10, has the privilege to choose his preferred partner, provided the said partner is within the top 300 in doubles rankings, Balaji is ranked 67.
