Jannik Sinner has been seeded first in the men’s singles and doubles events.
Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner will arrive in the Olympic Village on Thursday, when the draw for Paris Olympics 2024 will take place.
The 2024 Australian Open champion is seeded first in the men’s singles event. In addition to that, he’s also the top seed alongside 2024 Wimbledon semi-finalist Lorenzo Musetti in the men’s doubles event.
However, the ATP World No. #1 hasn’t traveled with the Italian tennis team for the 2024 Paris Olympics. According to ASNA, Sinner is currently suffering from a fever. Fortunately, he has tested negative for COVID. The 22-year-old has been enjoying a stellar year in 2024.
He started his campaign with an astounding triumph at the 2024 Australian Open. He defeated the likes of Andrey Rublev, Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev on his way to the final of the Grand Slam. He also won titles at the ATP Rotterdam, the Miami Open, and the Halle Open.

However, he failed to replicate the same performance at Roland Garros and the Wimbledon Championships. His campaign against Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals at the French Open ended in five sets. Meanwhile, Russia’s Daniil Medvedev stunned Sinner in four sets to secure a spot in the semifinals at the All England Lawn Tennis Club.
Nevertheless, Jannik Sinner is the only Italian player in tennis history to reach the top ATP rankings in men’s singles. In addition to that, he has also taken a significant lead in the rankings over Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic. Sinner missed the ATP 250 Bastad Open last week as he stated that he was exhausted after Wimbledon.
Sinner would be aiming to secure a medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Talking about the doubles draw, Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Musetti will be pairing up for the first time. With Sinner and Musetti at the top seeds, Andrea Vavassori and Simone Bolelli are second.
The Spanish pair of Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal and India’s Rohan Bopanna and N. Sriram Balaji are unseeded at the tournament. On the women’s front, the 2024 French Open runner-ups, Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini, will be the third seed in the women’s doubles.
