India will contest in at least five medal events on Day 8 of Paris Paralympics 2024.

After two busy days and medals galore, Day 8 (Thursday) is likely to be light for the Indian contingent at Paris Paralympics 2024. As it stands, India could be in shot for two medals on September 4. The archery mixed recurve pair of Pooja and Harvinder Singh will hope to replicate the success of Sheetal Devi and Rakesh Kumar and win a second para-archery medal for India. They duo will line up against Aussie opponents in their first match on Thursday.

Current World Champion in women’s 200m T2 event, Simran Sharma, will be India’s second medal hope on Day 8. She will compete in both 100m and 200m in the T12 category. Simran is a visually impaired athlete and will run alongside her guide Ajay.

There are also three other medal events, but chances of a medal look slim in these events. Up first, the 10m Air rifle bronze medalist Mona Agarwal and Sidhartha Babu will compete in 50m Rifle Prone SH1 event. However, they are not among the favourites to qualify for the finals, which takes place on the same day.

In para-Powerlifting, Ashok will compete in the men’s 65kg final while in para-athletics Arvind will compete in the men’s shot put. They are not the favourites to win the medal.
