Ravi Dahiya creates history at Tokyo Olympics, wins silver medal
The 23-year-old is only the second Indian wrestler to win the silver at the Olympics.
Star Indian wrestler Ravi Dahiya has added to the glory brought home by the Indian men’s hockey team that won the bronze medal on Thursday at the Tokyo Olympics. The wrestler has secured a well-deserved silver medal in the men’s freestyle 57kg category at the Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
By winning the silver medal, Ravi Dahiya opened the Indian wrestler’s account for the event. As a matter of fact, there were a lot of expectations upon the wrestlers and some of them are yet to take the stage. Therefore, Dahiya’s achievement will certainly motivate them further.

Ravi Dahiya picked up the silver medal in men’s 57kg freestyle wrestling after suffering a narrow loss to two-time World Champion Zaur Uguev.
The Indian grappler tried his best to mount a comeback after being down 4-2, but ended up suffering a 7-4 loss by points. Despite the defeat, Ravi Dahiya has become the second Indian wrestler of all-time to win a silver medal.

Ravi Dahiya will become a household name from this day forward after his exploits in the wrestling event in Tokyo. The athlete contested in the Men’s Freestyle 57 kg category and started with a comfortable win against Colombia’s Oscar Eduardo (13-2) in the pre-quarters.
He followed up this performance with another sublime win against Bulgaria’s Georgi Vangelov (14-4). Ravi won the pre-quarters and the quarterfinals by technical superiority.
However, the semi-final was a tough challenge for the 2021 Asian Championships gold medalist. He was up against Kazakhstan’s Nurislam Sanayev and had to find the victory through a pin fall. He was trailing by 9-7 at that point and marched on into the final.
