The incident occurred on March 25 leaving both athletes to require treatment.

In a recent incident in the Sushant Golf City area of the state capital, weightlifter Swati Singh and javelin thrower Shivpal Singh sustained injuries during a physical altercation between two groups, according to a report. The clash occurred on March 25, prompting both groups to file Cross FIRs at the Sushant Golf City police station.

Swati Singh, a bronze medallist in the 2010 Commonwealth Games, reported the incident to the police, said a report in the Hindustan Times. According to her complaint, while traveling with her male friends Shivpal Singh and Tanveer Gujjar, their car was confronted by another four-wheeler carrying several men. The investigation is ongoing.

“One of the men inside the car passed a lewd comment on me, to which I objected. He then abused me after which my two friends raised objections and dialled 112. However, the men came out of their car and started thrashing my friends,” Swati was quoted as saying in the FIR by HT.

“One of the men, Pratyush Shukla dragged me out of my car and hit me with some heavy weapon leaving me severely injured. Swati also claimed she has suffered multiple injuries on her legs and other body parts. “The head injury was so severe that I had to get four stitches done.”
