The World Games 2025 will be held in Chengdu, China, from August 7 to 17, with the opening ceremony scheduled for August 6.

The upcoming edition of the competition includes 42 sports to be staged across 11 days. Powerboating and Triathlon are the two new sports added for the 2025 edition of the World Games. Over 5,000 athletes from 118 countries are expected to compete, with over 250 medal events contested.

India have five medals to their name across 11 editions of the World Games. They won one bronze medal in the 2022 edition, courtesy of Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Abhishek Verma winning a bronze medal in the mixed team compound event.

India jointly secured the 70th position with Bolivia, Panama, and Tunisia in 2022. All four nations clinched one bronze medal each. Germany finished atop the medal tally with 47 medals, while hosts United States and Ukraine finished second and third with 44 and 45 medals, respectively.

Team India have named a 17-member contingent for the 12th edition of The World Games in Chengdu. They will compete in five sports: archery, billiards, racquetball, roller sports, and wushu. Last edition’s bronze medalist, Abhishek Verma, will lead the Asian nation in the tournament.
