World Games 2025 Final Medal Tally: Hosts China finish on top with 36 gold medals, India at 66th place

The World Games 2021 will be held in Chengdu, China, from August 7-21.
The World Games 2025 commenced on Thursday (August 7) at multiple venues across Chengdu in China. The competition comprises 253 medal events in 34 sports and 60 disciplines, with events scheduled to be held across 27 venues.
The quadrennial event takes place a year after the Olympics, featuring sports and disciplines that are not part of the Olympics. Sports like flag football, lacrosse, and squash, which are set to make their debut in the upcoming Olympics, are also part of the World Games 2025.
Cheerleading, Powerboating, and Para Dance will make their World Games debut in this edition. Meanwhile, bowling, water skiing, and artistic roller skating have been dropped from the 2025 edition of the World Games.

Over 5,000 athletes from 100+ countries will take the field in the multi-sport event in China. Host China boasts the largest contingent for the event with 327 athletes, followed by Germany (220) and Japan (155).
Meanwhile, India will have 17 athletes competing in Archery, Billiards, Racquetball, Roller Sports & Wushu. Historically, they have won five medals, including three bronzes in the tournament. Aditya Snehal Mehta secured a solitary gold medal in the men’s singles snooker event in 2013.
The 2022 edition in Birmingham saw Germany finish first with 47 medals, including 24 golds. Meanwhile, the United States (44 medals) and Ukraine (45 medals) came second and third, respectively.
