Two-time Paralympic Champion Sumit Antil successfully retained his gold medal in men’s javelin throw final F64 at the World Para Athletics Championships 2025 on Tuesday, September 30.

En route to a hat-trick of gold medals, Antil also smashed his own championship record in the competition with a 71.37m throw in his fifth attempt. The previous record of 70.83 was held by Sumit, which he set during the 2023 edition of the World Para Athletics Championships in September.

The 27-year-old also holds the World Record in the event at 73.29m.

On Tuesday, Antil began his campaign with a 65.59m throw and followed it with a foul attempt. His next three attempts read 65.36m, 68.40m, and 71.37m. The World Record holder ended his run with a foul throw.

The remaining athletes finished far behind Sumit Antil in the competition. His compatriot, Pardeep Kumar, secured a fifth place with a throw of 42.72m.

Colombia’s Tomas Felipe Soto Mina bagged the silver medal with a personal best throw of 48.38m, while Rufat Khabibullin of Kazakhstan clinched the bronze medal with a 47.14m, registering his personal best.

Greece’s Konstantinos Tourkochoritis, who is a F62 category player, registered a best throw of 35.08m in his final attempt to better his own world record of 32.35m, set earlier this year.

He had two foul throws, and his remaining three throws were 26.10m, 28.76m, and 28.53m.

Seven athletes took the field on Tuesday in the men’s F64 javelin throw final. Hosts India fielded two players, while Colombia, USA, Kazakhstan, Thailand, and Greece had one javelin thrower each in the event. Here are the complete results from the final:
