It was a positive day for the Indian shooters in particular.

There were several notable events involving the Indian shooting athletes on Wednesday at the ongoing 2022 ISSF World Cup in Changwon, South Korea. Before today, India only had one gold medal to boast of which was won by Arjun Babuta. Two more medals were won by the Indian contingent in the early hours of the day to take India’s tally to three at the prestigious tournament.

The competition for medals is intense, considering the level of other competitors. The last couple of days were difficult for Indians in particular as they missed out on medals in a few categories. However, there is reason to be happy for the fans at the moment.

Here is a look at Wednesday’s action from the 2022 ISSF World Cup.

Mixed 10m Air Rifle

Indian pair of Mehuli Ghosh and Tushar Mane won the gold medal in the Mixed 10m Air Rifle event. They met Eszter Meszaros and Istvan Peni of Hungary in the gold medal match. The duo won the gold by a close 17-13 win. There were positive signs after the qualification where Ghosh and Mane secured the first spot with a 634.3 score. This win set a good benchmark for the other shooting athletes for the remainder of the day.

Mixed 10m Air Pistol

India’s Palak and Shiva Narwal were in contention to win bronze in the Mixed 10m Air Pistol event of ISSF World Cup 2022 after securing third place in the qualification round yesterday. They were second only to the South Korean team that had 942.4 points on the board in round one. However, a performance of 629.7 in the second round gave them the first spot in the standings. The trio will meet the South Koreans in the gold medal match tomorrow.

Women’s Air Rifle Team

The trio of Mehuli Ghosh, Ramita and Elavenil Valaravian were representing India in the Women’s Air Rifle Team event of ISSF World Cup 2022.
