No Indian male shooter qualified for the finals in men’s skeet event.
Ace Indian shooter Ganemat Sekhon reached the final only to finish sixth in the women’s skeet at the Shotgun ISSF World Cup 2024 in Lonato, Italy. Meanwhile, none of the Indian male shooters made the top-six cut on the penultimate day of the competition.
Ganemat, 23, hit only 16 out of the first 20 targets, in the 60-shot final, resulting in her early elimination. Rio Olympics champion Diana Bacosi of Italy won the gold medal with a whopping 57 hits.

Prior to the final, Ganemat had shot a perfect 25 for her fifth and final qualification round for a total score of 120. That tied her with three other shooters for the final three qualification spots, but the Chandigarh-born markswoman prevailed in the shoot-off and secured the sixth spot by shooting the first three targets, edging out Peru’s Daniella Borda.
The Indian began the final well gunning down all four stages on the first station, along with Dania Jo Vizzi of USA and the winner Diana.
However, she then got seven of the first 10 and that wasn’t sufficient to advance further in the competition as she had qualified as the sixth. She had recovered in her next 10 attempts missing the target only once. Meanwhile, among the other Indians in contention, Maheshwari Chauhan (114) finished 30th and Raiza Dhillon (111) took the 39th spot.
