WTT Contender Rio 2023: Full schedule, fixtures, results, live streaming details

Manika Batra has given the tournament a miss while other top guns compete.

WTT Contender Rio 2023 is the eighth Contender event of the WTT Calender for the year 2023. It begins on August 07, 2023, and the finals will be played on the 13th of August, 2023. The total prize pool for the tournament is $75000, with the winners of the singles event pocketing $5000 each. The winners of the doubles event will be rewarded with $1000 each.

This is one of the only two Contender events to be played in Latin America in the WTT Calendar Year 2023. The other tournament was the WTT Contender Lima 2023, the tournament that concluded recently in Lima, Peru. 

As many as five different Indians will be trying their luck in Rio de Janeiro, with two of them (Sathiyan Gnanasekaran and Harmeet Desai) participating in both, singles and the doubles events. Besides partnering with each other in the men’s doubles, the two will compete for the top prize in the men’s singles event. No Indians have received a direct entry to the main event, and have been asked to go through the qualifiers, which begin on August 07.
