Sreeja Akula won her fourth WTT title
India’s Sreeja Akula won the WTT Feeder Puerto Princesa 2026 women’s singles title on Saturday, beating Chinese Taipei’s Li Yu-Jhun in straight sets in the final.
The Indian paddler, ranked 63rd in the world, was in peak form, defeating her higher-ranked opponent 11-8, 11-6, 11-8 and claiming her fourth title.
Akula dictated the pace from the start, never allowing Li to settle as she cruised to a straight-games victory over World No. 54 Li Yu-Jhun of Chinese Taipei.
With the triumph at the Edward S. Hagedorn Coliseum in Puerto Princesa, Philippines, the Indian clinched her fourth career WTT title.
Akula was in stunning form at this competition. She opened her campaign with a tight 3-2 win over South Korea’s Lee Daeun, followed by success over Korea’s Kim Eunso 3-1 in the pre-quarterfinals and Choi Seoyeon 3-0 in the quarter-finals. In the semis, she followed it up with a 3-1 victory over Chinese Taipei’s Chen Min-Hsin.
The win over Li Yu-Jhun capped a dominant run for Akula throughout the tournament. She has already bagged a couple of gold medals at the Commonwealth Table Tennis Championships 2026 in New Delhi in the women’s team and women’s doubles events.

Akula doesn’t have time to rest on her laurels as she will lead the Indian table tennis contingent at the upcoming Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
She will participate in the women’s singles, women’s doubles (along with Diya Chitale), and the women’s team events.
The 28-year-old Hyderabad native is one of India’s highly decorated table tennis players. She clinched gold at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham and won bronze at the Asian Table Tennis Championships 2024 in Astana.
Before that, she enjoyed a golden run at the 2019 South Asian Games, clinching gold in both women’s singles and doubles.
However, she is yet to win her maiden Asian Games medal. She competed in four events at the Hangzhou 2023 Asian Games — women’s singles, doubles, team and mixed doubles — but missed out on a medal.
