Top five records by Novak Djokovic that are impossible to break
The following feats by the Serbian star may always stay intact.
Novak Djokovic is one of the greatest tennis players of all time. Some believe that the legendary Serbian is the undisputed greatest individual to play the sport. During the course of his career, Novak Djokovic has won multiple titles and has a long list of records to his name.
In fact, some of the records that Djokovic holds at the moment have the potential to stay intact for posterity. His feats in the Australian Open and the total number of Grand Slam wins are difficult to replicate for any player in the upcoming generation.
Another aspect of Novak Djokovic that sets him apart from the rest is his longevity. Alongside Roger Fererer and Rafael Nadal, “the Djoker” has shown a relentless drive to succeed and stay at the top. His career is a reference point when legendary players are a topic.
Here is a look at some of the records that he set that are impossible to break:
Only player to complete career Golden Masters
ATP Masters are nine elite tournaments in a calendar year comprising elite men’s tennis players on tour. Winning these tournaments is a mighty difficult task as all of the top players flock to them which leads to intense competition.
There is only one individual who has won all nine of the masters tournament, not once but twice, and that is Novak Djokovic. It is difficult to imagine who will ever match or break this feat in the years to come.
Most No.1 year finishes in Open Era
One of the major achievements in any sporting field is reaching the top of the rankings. However, a bigger feat is to retain the top position, which is also way more difficult than reaching the summit. Novak Djokovic excels at this aspect too since he holds the record for ending a calendar year as the World No.1 in rankings the most number of times.
During his career, Djokovic has finished the year as No.1 in the rankings on seven occasions, a record.
Most weeks as World's No.1
Novak Djokovic recently set a new record, adding another feather to the cap. He is now the record holder for staying at the top of the rankings for the most number of weeks. The Serbian legend set a new record at 378 weeks staying as the World No.1.
The previous best was of Steffi Graff, a legend herself in women’s tennis. She was at the top of the rankings for a cumulative 377 weeks in her career. With Novak now the holder of this record, and will probably extend it, it seems impossible to break.
Most Australian Open titles
Novak Djokovic is the undisputed king of the Australian Open. He has won it 10 times in his career, which is a record that has very less chance of breaking. The level of dominance in the tournament shown by the Serbian superstar is incredible and unbelievable.
Djokovic excels on the hard court surface. The 35-year-old may add a few more Australian Open titles before retiring as a professional which may make this feat even more impossible to break.
Most Grand Slam titles
Novak Djokovic holds the record for winning the most Grand Slam titles (23). He recently defeated Casper Ruud to clinch his third French Open title and has leaped Nadal (22) to have the most grand slam titles.
Getting close to the mark will take a herculean effort. The second best in this list is Nadal (22) followed by Roger Federer with 20 Grand Slam titles. Seeing as how Djokovic can add a few more Grand Slam wins, the record may stay intact for decades to come.
