Serving plays a major role in players’ success in tennis. Reaching higher speeds and converting them into aces cannot be achieved by many in the pro circuit.

In this article let us deep dive into the top 10 players with the fastest serves in the tennis ATP circuit. Certain players have recorded fast serves but we have included only the ones that have been recognized by the ATP, (Association of Tennis Professionals).

All-time fastest serves in men’s tennis

10. Oscar Otte- 151 mph

Oscar Otte was one of the highest ranked German players on the ATP tour in 2022. The former world No# 36 service was timed at 151 mph during his fourth round match against Matteo Berettini during 2021 US Open.

Otte has mostly been competing in Challenger events. He qualifed for 2024 Halle Open but lost in the opening round to fellow German, Alexander Zverev.

9. Hubert Hurkacz – 151 mph

Hurbert Hurkacz hit his fastest serve in the 2016 Davis Cup. Poland took on Argentina in the 2016 Davis Cup and Hubert Hurkacz made a mark through his serving ability. His serve touched the 151 mph mark and saw him a secure a place in the record books.

The Polish player has been ranked as high as No# 7.

8. Alexei Popyrin -151 mph

Alexei Popyrin is known for his agrressive gorundstrokes and serve on the court. He defeated Taylor Fritz at the Australian Open in 2023. Popyrin recorded his fastest serve of 151 mph at Tokyo in 2023 during his quarterfinal match against Shintaro Mochizuki.

The Australian was the fastest server from his nation during Wimbledon 2024. Popyrin’s highest ranking is No# 38.

7. Marius Copil – 151.6 mph

Marius Copil from Romania recorded the seventh fastest serve in the list in the quarterfinals of the 2016 European Cup. The Romanian has a career-high singles rank of 56. He is known for upsetting a few top players during his peak.

6. Feliciano Lopez – 152.0 mph

Feliciano Lopez from Spain recorded the sixth-fastest serve during the 2014 Aegon Championships. Lopez turned pro in 1997 and played for 26 long years retiring in 2023. He reached a career-high ranking of 12 in 2015. Lopez found success in the doubles section, reaching a career-high ranking of nine.

5. Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard-152 mph

Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard is a young upcoming player on the ATP tour. He touched the 152 mph mark during the first round of the men’s doubles at the 2024 French Open. Perricard was playing alongside Titouan Droguet.

The 21-year-old had the joint fastest serve at Wimbledon 2024 with 140 mph. He was the only player to hit more than 100 aces at the grass court grand slam. Perricard hit 115 aces in the four matches he played in.

4. Andy Roddick – 155.0 mph

Andy Roddick holds the joint record for the fastest serve at 155 mph. He acheived the timing during the semifinals against Belarus during the Davis Cup in 2004. He is regarded as one of the best American singles players.

He is one of the top servers of the games in the early 2000s and reached the final at the 2004 Davis Cup. Roddick reached the finals of the Wimbledon thrice but failed to lift the trophy. 

3. Milos Raonic – 155.0 mph

Milos Raonic registered the third-fastest serve at the 2012 SAP Open and holds several accolades to his name. He is the first Canadian to reach the top 10 in the men’s singles rankings. He rose to fame for defeating Roger Federer in the semifinals of the 2016 Wimbledon Championships.

Raonic was ranked No# 3 in 2016. He has hit more than 8000 aces in his career.

2. Ivo Karlovic – 156 mph

Ivo Karlovic from Croatia is one of the tallest players in the tennis circuit (6 ‘11). The Croatian has the record for the second most career aces (13,728). Karlovic broke Roddick’s fastest serve record during the 2011 Davis Cup first-round encounter against Germany.

Karlovic was playing doubles with Ivan Dodig and his serve was timed at 156 mph.

1. John Isner – 157.2 mph

John Isner from the USA is a man of many records. He came to the limelight after defeating Nicholas Mahut at the 2010 Wimbledon Championships with the match lasting for 11 hours and 5 minutes over three days.

Apart from this, John Isner also holds the fastest serve record registered during the 2016 Davis Cup tie against Australia. His booming serve was recorded at 157.2 mph. He leads the list in career aces with 14,470 in 772 matches.
