His major test was in the quarter-finals, where he defeated Khachanov after a slow start, winning (4-6,7-6,6-2,6-4). In semi-finals, he was again brilliant as he defeated WR 1 Carlos Alcaraz (6-3,5-7,1-6,1-6).

On the Other hand, Ruud also comfortably sailed into the final. The fourth seed started his campaign with a comfortable win against Elias Ymer (6-4,6-3,6-2). In the semi-finals, he destroyed the Olympic Champion Zverev (6-3,6-4,6-0) to reach his third grand slam final. Having lost the previous encounters, Ruud would want to win his first grand slam title but a tough task awaits as him in the final.
