The 2023 ATP Awards have revealed the Fans’ Favourite doubles team of the year, and the honour went to none other than the Russian pair of Karen Khachanov and Andrey Rublev. The long-time friends and compatriots have had a remarkable season, both as a team and as individuals, and have earned the admiration and respect of tennis fans around the world.
Khachanov and Rublev have been playing together since their junior days and have developed a strong bond and chemistry on and off the court. They have also been part of the Russian Davis Cup team and have represented their country with pride and passion.
The highlight of their doubles season was undoubtedly their maiden team title at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Madrid, where they defeated some of the best doubles specialists in the world, including the Seventh seeds Rohan Bopanna and Mathhew Ebden in the final. They also reached the semi-finals in Beijing, and qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals in London, where they finished third in their group.
What makes their doubles success even more impressive is the fact that they have also been among the top singles players in the world and have often faced each other in high stakes matches. Rublev, who is ranked No. 5 in the world, won his first ATP Masters 1000 title in Monte-Carlo, where he defeated Khachanov in the third round.
