Rohan Bopanna-Matthew are seeded second in men’s doubles.
The first Grand Slam for next season – Australian Open 2024 – is scheduled to be held from January 14th-28th in Melbourne, Australia. A few weeks prior to the start of the competition, the main draw and qualifying lists for singles and doubles category in men’s, women’s section have been put out.
From India’s point of view, Sumit Nagal and Ankita Raina are the lone athletes to feature in the singles event – qualifying rounds. The former had a good end to the 2023 season reaching the top 150s enabling him to get inside the qualifying draws pretty easily.
In the doubles section, Rohan Bopanna-Matthew Ebden enter the tournament as the second seeds behind Ivan Dodig and Austin Krajicek. Rohan started the year ranked 19th and slowly moved up the ranking by putting up consistent performances. He became the oldest to win ATP 1000 Masters event and reached the final of US Open alongside his Australian counterpart.
Meanwhile, Yuki Bhambri will be partnering experienced Dutchman Robin Haase. There are currently only two Indians inside the main draw but chances are high for few more to get inside from the alternates list. Sriram Balaji is placed in the first position on the alternates list alongside Victor Vlad Cornea.
