The Serbian becomes the sixth champion in tournament history.
In a thrilling display of tennis, 20-year-old Serbian player Hamad Medjedovic emerged victorious at the Next Gen ATP Finals held in Jeddah. Medjedovic defeated Arthur Fils in the final and became the sixth champion at this 21-and-under event.
In a spectacular final that was a fitting end to the tournament, Hamad Medjedovic clinched the 2023 ATP Next Gen Finals title. He triumphed over Arthur Fils with a scoreline of 3-4 (6), 4-1, 4-2, 3-4 (9), 4-1.
The match began with Fils taking the first set in a nail-biting tiebreak. However, Medjedovic retaliated, showcasing his powerful groundstrokes and precision, taking the second and third sets. The fourth set was a replay of the first, with Fils managing to level the match at two sets each.
The deciding set saw a transformed Medjedovic return to the court after a break. He broke Filsâ serve early in the set, putting the Frenchman on the back foot. Fils, unable to cope with the pressure, quickly fell behind. Medjedovic, showing no signs of nerves, held his serve to clinch the match and the biggest title of his career. This match was a testament to both playersâ potential and the high-quality tennis.

Medjedovicâs victory also marks a significant achievement for Serbian tennis, following Novak Djokovicâs record seventh Nitto ATP Finals crown earlier this month.
Medjedovic is the lowest-ranked champion in the tournamentâs history. However, his performance at the Next Gen ATP Finals, where he did not lose a single match, demonstrates his potential and skill on the court. Medjedovic joins the ranks of top 10 stars Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, and Stefanos Tsitsipas as the sixth Next Gen ATP Finals titlist.
