Tennis Premier League 2023: Punjab Patriots edge out Mumbai Leon Army in close contest

Punjab Patriots regained the top spot in the points table.
Tennis Premier League 2023 debutants and Taapsee Pannu and World of Krida co-owned Punjab Patriots, bounced back with a 43-37 win over Mumbai Leon Army on day four of the fifth Tennis Premier League. Punjab Patriots have regained the top spot in the points table with a total of 164 points to their kitty.
Punjab Patriots will now take on Pune Jaguars on 16th December 2023. The match will be telecast LIVE on Sony Sports 2 and can be streamed LIVE on the official YouTube Channel of Tennis Premier League on 16th December 2023, 5:55 p.m. (IST) onwards.
Switzerland’s Conny Perrin opened the books for Punjab Patriots with a comfortable 11-9 win over Mumbai Leon Army’s Sowjanya Bavisetti. Punjab’s impressive start was however marginalised as Digvijay Pratap Singh went down 9-11 to Ernests Gulbis of the Leon’s in the men’s singles encounter.
However even with Mumbai winning the game, Digvijay’s final two points ensured the Patriots are levelled overall with the scoreboard reading 20-20 post the women’s and men’s singles encounters.

It was now Arjun’s time to push the gas for the Patriots in the final two doubles fixtures. Arjun and Conny started the mixed doubles with an impressive point from the opening serve, eventually walking away with a 12-8 confident win over Mumbai’s Leon’s Vijay and Sowjanya.
The final game of the day saw Arjun and Digvijay pair up for Men’s doubles against Vijay and Esnests’ pair. The pair kept the tempo high and led the game throughout to finish the game with a score of 11-9 to their favor.
Speaking after the Match Punjab Patriots Mentor Ankita Bhambri said, “It feels good to get our winning moment back. Conny, Diggi and Arjun all three brought their best game out in all the 4 games. We have one more match left in the league stage which is against the home team. Looking forward to finishing the match on a high and hopefully playing here on Sunday as well.”
Punjab Patriots’ double master Arjun Khade was named the player of the match post his brilliant performance in both the games. Punjab Patriots will now take on the host team Pune Jaguars in their final match in the league stage.
