Belarusian became the first player to reach semis of all four Grand Slams in a single year since Serena Williams in 2016.

The 25-year-old Belarusian tennis player, Aryna Sabalenka, had performed exceptionally in the previous calendar year. Sabalenka became the first player to reach the semifinals of all four Grand Slam events in one year since Serena Williams in 2016. Her achievements set a benchmark for aspiring talents worldwide, serving as an inspiration for young athletes.

She clinched three WTA Tour titles, including Adelaide International I, Australian Open, and Madrid Open. Additionally, she reached the finals of the Indian Wells Open, US Open and Stuttgart Open.

Adelaide International – Winner

Aryna Sabalenka secured her inaugural WTA tour title by triumphing in the final of the Adelaide International 1 in Australia. She overcame Linda Nosková with a final score of 6–3, 7–6(7–4), marking Sabalenka’s first title for the year.

Australian Open – Winner

As the fifth seed and a title contender, Sabalenka triumphed over top-ranked Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan with a scoreline of 4-6, 6-2, 6-4. This remarkable win marked her second title and the first major title for the year.

Madrid Open 2023 – Winner

The Belarusian added another prestigious title to her haul by winning the Madrid Open 2023, defeating world no. 1 Iga Swiatek in the final, showcasing her dominance on clay courts. This marked the first time since 2013 that the top two seeds contested the Madrid Open final.

US Open – Runner-up

Advancing to the final showdown in the US Open 2023, Sabalenka couldn’t secure the title as Coco Gauff emerged victorious with a scoreline of 2–6, 6–3, 6–2. However, by the virtue of reaching the finals, the Belarusian secured the top spot in the WTA singles rankings replacing Poland’s Iga Swiatek.

Stuttgart Open – Runner-up

Despite commendable performances, Sabalenka faced defeat in the finals of the Stuttgart Open 2023 against world No. 1 Iga Swiatek, settling for the runner-up position.

French Open, Wimbledon – Semifinals

In the French Open 2023, Sabalenka reached the semifinals without dropping a set but faced a loss against Karolína Muchová despite leading 5–2 and holding match point. Similarly, in Wimbledon 2023, she reached the semifinals but lost to Ons Jabeur, despite leading by a set and a break.

WTA Finals – Semifinals

Making it to the semifinals of the WTA Finals for the second time in her career, Sabalenka was defeated by Iga Swiatek in the final with a score of 6-3, 6-2, concluding the season successfully.

ATP Singles Rankings – World No.1

Following the loss of world No. 1 Iga Świątek in the fourth round of the US Open 2023, Sabalenka became the world No. 1 tennis player by the end of the tournament. This accomplishment marked her as the 29th player to attain the top ranking in the WTA Tour. She also became the second Belarusian to achieve the no. 1 rank after Victoria Azarenka.
