Daniil Medvedev vs Alexander Zverev: Head-to-head record

The two will fight for a place in the Australian Open 2024 final.

Daniil Medvedev of Russia and Alexander Zverev of Germany have carved out their own space in men’s tennis, living in the shadow of the legendary Big Three, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, and now the new dominant duo of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.

Both Medvedev and Zverev turned professional in the early-mid-2010s, and emerged as part of the so-called “Next Gen” and later became the bridge generation between the Big Three era and the current Alcaraz-Sinner dominance.

They have faced each other more than 20 times on the ATP Tour, building one of the most competitive rivalries of their generation.

In 2022, Medvedev and Zverev together fighting and winning their own battles ended the Big Four’s (Federer, Nadal, Djokovic and Andy Murray) long-standing grip on the Top 2 rankings, a dominance that had lasted nearly two decades.

Medvedev remains the only one of the two to have won a Grand Slam singles title. He is famous for denying Novak Djokovic a Calendar Grand Slam by defeating him in the 2021 US Open final.

Zverev, meanwhile, has won Olympic gold (Tokyo 2020) and two ATP Finals titles. He has reached three Grand Slam finals, the 2020 US Open, 2024 French Open and 2025 Australian Open, but fell short on each occasion.

As of early 2026, both players find themselves just behind Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, who have taken control of the sport’s biggest titles in recent seasons.
