Playing top-level tennis regularly for multiple years is no mean feat as it takes a huge sustained effort and discipline to achieve it. Focusing on the WTA 1000 series tournaments, they attract the best women tennis players across the world. The competition across WTA 1000 Masters in places like Indian Wells, Miami, Madrid, Rome, and Toronto/Montreal is always fierce.
While playing regularly and succeeding at WTA 1000 Masters events is a tall task, some players have made it look easy throughout their careers. Interestingly, two women’s tennis stars have amassed over a century of main draw appearances at WTA 1000 Masters events since 2009, which is a magnificent achievement. These tournaments offer plenty of ranking points and doing well in them is a sure way to achieve success.
With the focus firmly on WTA 1000 Masters events, here are the top five women with the most main draw appearances:
Angelique Kerber – 88
Germany’s Angelique Kerber is the fifth-highest main draw appearance maker at the WTA 1000 Masters events in women’s tennis. The former World No.1 singles player made 88 main draw appearances at the prestigious tournaments. It is worth noting that Kerber has won three Grand Slams (the Australian Open in 2016, Wimbledon in 2018 and the US Open in 2016) and is currently one of the senior players on the WTA Tour.
Victoria Azarenka – 93
Victoria Azarenka overtook Angelique Kerber to become the women’s with the fourth-highest main draw appearances in WTA 1000 Masters events. She has accumulated 93 appearances and is likely to add more to her record as she is not planning to retire at age 34. The Belarusian powerhouse, popularly known for her aggressive gameplay and extrovert personality, has won two Australian Open titles and 10 Premier Mandatory and Premier 5 singles titles before they were merged into the WTA 1000 Masters category.
Caroline Wozniacki – 93
Caroline Wozniacki is the third-highest main draw appearance maker in WTA 1000 Masters events with 93 outings. The first Dane to win a major singles title in 2018 after winning the Australian Open also secured the World No.1 rank and became the first tennis woman from a Scandinavian country to do so. The 33-year-old won three Premier Mandatory and three Premier 5 titles.

The 33-year-old has 31 singles titles to her name including two Wimbledon singles titles in 2011 and 2014 respectively. Interestingly, the left-handed baseliner’s highest rank in singles was World No.2.
Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova – 110
Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova holds the record for the most main draw appearances at the WTA 1000 Masters events. Surprisingly, Pavlyuchenkova has never won a singles Grand Slam title and she has reached the final of the French Open in 2021 and she has won two Premier level titles. Her highest rank in women’s singles is No.11 which was achieved on 8 November 2021.
