Rafael Nadal also recently attended the El Clasico match at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr. and former French midfielder Zinedine Zidane were recently spotted watching Rafael Nadal play against Australia’s Alex de Minaur in the second round of the ATP 1000 Madrid Open on Saturday, April 27.
Last Sunday, Rafael Nadal and a few other tennis stars, such as Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, and Naomi Osaka, attended Real Madrid’s La Liga fixture against Barcelona, where they recorded a 3-2 victory.
After the match, Vinicius Jr. took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a picture with 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal, where the two stars were seen standing next to each other. The Real Madrid winger captioned the post, “LEGEND!!!!!”.
Nevertheless, after Nadal came to watch Los Blancos’ victory over Barcelona last weekend, the Brazilian winger also witnessed the Spaniard’s triumph over Alex de Minaur in Madrid. Here is the video:
After missing the entire clay season of 2023, Nadal made his return to the ATP tour at the 2024 Barcelona Open, earlier this year. However, he suffered a disappointing 7-5, 6-1 loss against Minaur in the second round. Interestingly, after defeating Darwin Blanch in 64 minutes, Nadal again faced the Aussie but this time, in the Spanish capital.
Playing at the ATP 1000 Madrid Open, the 14-time Roland Garros champion recorded a victory over World No. 11 Alex de Minaur in straight sets. The first set was a contest of nip and tuck between the two tennis stars; however, the Spaniard managed to win the tiebreak 8-6. In the second set, tennis fans got to witness a classic Rafael Nadal as he won the match 7-6 (8-6), 6-3.

After the match, the Spaniard was asked if he was back in his old form. Replying to the question, he said no and stated that he was happy defeating the World No. 11 on the red soil. Nadal said:
“No, no.. not yet (laughs). It needs time. I think for moments it was a good level of tennis. I was able to do positive things. But it’s still on and off. Super happy to be able to be competitive against a great player like Alex. Playing over 2 hours means a lot to me,” he said in the on-court interview.”
Next up, the King of Clay will face Argentina’s Pedro CachĂn, who defeated the USA’s Frances Tiafoe in the Round of 64.
