Alex de Minaur vs Alejandro Davidovich prediction, betting tips & odds, head-to-head, preview: Washington Open 2025

De Minaur and Davidovich Fokina to clash in a tour-level final for the first time.
Alex de Minaur got the better of lucky loser Corentin Moutet to advance to the finals of the Washington Open on Saturday. De Minaur defeated the Frenchman 6-4, 6-3 in one hour and 45 minutes and reach his second final at the venue. The Australian was a finalist at the ATP 500 event in 2018.
The Australian survived the face-off against Moutet despite making 33 unforced errors, 21 of them in the opening set alone. De Minaur won his first meeting against the Frenchman to set up a title round clash with Fokina. De Minaur’s second championship round appearance this season comes with a rise to No. 10 in the ATP Live Rankings.
Davidovich Fokina defeated Ben Shelton in the second semi-final of the day to complete a hat-trick of wins against American players. The 6-2, 7-5 win over fourth seed Ben Shelton followed victories over Learner Tien and top seed Taylor Fritz.
The Spaniard accepted Shelton’s gift of 35 unforced errors and seven double faults to close out the match in one hour and 20 minutes. Fokina maintained his perfect record against the 22-year-old American to go up 3-0 in their head-to-head and deny the home crowd the prospect of a local champion.
Fokina becomes just the second Spanish finalist in Washington since Alex Corretja defeated Andre Agassi 25 years ago to take the title in 2000. Another milestone awaiting the Spaniard is a Top 2o debut on Monday. He moves to a career-high No. 19 in the ATP Live Rankings after registering his fifth Top-10 win of the year.

Match prediction
When De Minaur meets Fokina in Sunday’s final, he will need to steer clear of the mistakes he made in the semi-finals. The Spaniard represents a serious obstacle in De Minaur’s attempt to win his maiden Washington Open title. For Fokina, the stakes are even higher – the 26-year-old is on the verge of a maiden tour-level win.
Fokina is overdue for his first title after making two ATP finals this season. He will look to break the jinx in his third title round against one of the best returners of the game – Alex de Minaur. The Spaniard showed no signs of fatigue after his marathon three-setter against Taylor Fritz to take down Ben Shelton in the semi-finals.
De Minaur eased past Brandon Nakashima and Corentin Moutet in the previous two rounds to book passage for the Washington Open finals for the second time in his career.
Fokina will look to shorten the rallies when he takes on De Minaur and not let the Aussie settle into any rhythm.
Result: Fokina to win in three sets.
