Amanda Anisimova also booked her spot in the 2025 WTA finals with the win.
Continuing her fine run in 2025, Amanda Anisimova stunned World No. 3 Coco Gauff in the 2025 China Open semi-finals to advance to her maiden final at the WTA 1000 event. Amanda, 24, overcame her American compatriot 6-1, 6-2 to seal a fifth final appearance of the season.
Ranked World No. 4 in WTA rankings, Anisimova will take on Czechia’s Linda Noskova in the final on Sunday. The 20-year-old Noskova is making her maiden final appearance at a WTA 1000 event, while Anisimova will have the experience of lifting the Qatar Open from earlier this season.
Her victory over Gauff also saw the American set an exclusive record for this season. She has now defeated each of the top three ranked players in WTA rankings—Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff—this season, making her the only player to do so in 2025.
Earlier in the season, Anisimova stunned the tennis world by defeating world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the Wimbledon semi-finals. The hard-fought 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 three-set victory propelled her to her first Grand Slam final.
Amanda then overcame world No. 2 Iga Swiatek in the US Open 2025 quarter-finals, winning comfortably 6-4, 6-3 on her way to back-to-back Grand Slam finals.
This victory allowed her to avenge the crushing 0-6, 0-6 loss she had suffered against Swiatek in the Wimbledon final earlier in the season.

Anisimova finally completed the trifecta by dominating the world No. 3 Coco Gauff in a one-sided semi-final in Beijing. This victory was made even more thrilling, as the 24-year-old needed just less than an hour to dispatch the defending champion.
In the quarter-finals, Anisimova faced the sixth seeded Jasmine Paolini. A thrilling three-set match that lasted 2 hours and 47 minutes ended in a 6-7 (4-7), 6-3, 6-4 victory for the American.
That win against the Italian star helped Anisimova book her spot in the 2025 WTA Finals, a first in her career.
She joins the star-studded field of Sabalenka, Swiatek, and Gauff as players who have already qualified for the season-ending event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from November 1-8.
So far in the 2025 season the 24-year-old has won only one title and that came at the Qatar Open in Doha, which was a WTA 1000 event. She defeated Jeļena Ostapenko in the final in straight sets.
Anisimova has won a total of 43 matches in the season as of now. She has a win-loss record of 43-17 for the year.
