Arthur Rinderknech vs Valentin Vacherot final prediction, betting tips & odds, head-to-head, preview: Shanghai Masters 2025

In an all-unseeded showdown for the title, Rinderknech and Vacherot will square off in the Shanghai Masters.

It was a face-off nobody saw coming, even as Arthur Rinderknech and Valentin Vacherot ready themselves for the biggest final of their careers. Rinderknech, the 30-year-old Frenchman, and Vacherot, his cousin from neighbouring Monaco, will be aware of the stakes in Sunday’s final. At stake is a first-ever ATP Tour-level title for both players, and the stage is the title round of an ATP Masters 1000 event.

Vacherot got the ball rolling in the first semi-final of the day when he upset four-time champion Novak Djokovic 6-3, 6-4 in an hour and 45 minutes. The Serb found himself on the back foot, serving five double faults and hitting just five winners during the match. Losing serve in the

The Serb exited in the semi-final stage for the fifth time this season to hand Vacherot his first top-10 win of his career. The Monegasque, ranked World No. 204, is both the first man from his country to reach an ATP-level final in the Open Era and the lowest-ranked player to make an ATP Masters final.

Rinderknech took the scenic route against 2019 champion Daniil Medvedev before joining Vacherot in the title round. The Frenchman fought back from a set down to prevail 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 in two hours and 30 minutes to deny the Russian his second tour-level final of the season.

Medvedev, who reached the finals at Halle in June, was looking to reach his first Masters final since Indian Wells in 2024 and reprise his title run from 2019.

Rinderknech was in his element, firing 48 winners and saving ten breakpoints against Medvedev to make the title round clash a family affair. A top-30 debut awaits Rinderknech as he became the oldest French player to reach a maiden ATP Masters 1000 final. He will climb to a career high of World No. 28 on Monday.

Preview

The 204th-ranked Vacherot has gone from being an alternate in qualifying to landing at the doorstep of his biggest title in Shanghai. He defeated No. 10 seed Holger Rune in the quarter-finals before claiming the prize scalp of 24-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic in the last four.

The 2025 Shanghai Masters final will mark the first time since the 2003 Paris Masters, and just the third time, that two unseeded players will compete for an ATP Masters 1000 title.

The Monegasque player will make his ATP top-100 debut in the forthcoming week, where a career-high ranking of No.58 awaits the 26-year-old even if he falls short of winning the title.

Vacherot has carved his name in the record books as the first player outside the Top 200 to reach the finals at a Masters event.

Djokovic was aiming for a record fifth Shanghai Open title and a 41st ATP 1000 victory. Against Vacherot, a spot in the final was all but certain. The unseeded Vacherot made the most of the Serb’s physical struggles to deny the former World No. 1 his second final of 2025.

Match prediction

Rinderknech is the more experienced of the two, having made the title round at an ATP 250 event in Adelaide three years ago. While Vacherot earned a deserving victory against Novak Djokovic, an out-of-sorts Serb was not at his best in their semi-final match.

Vacherot, thanks to his meteoric rise in Shanghai, is no longer an unknown name. However, Rinderknech’s experience may prove to be the deciding factor in an unexpected final, with the Frenchman better poised to earn his maiden ATP Masters 1000 and tour-level title.

Result: Arthur Rinderknech to win in straight sets.
