The World No. 1 is in Indian Wells for the WTA 1000 event.
It was love-all off court as Georgios Frangulis gave Aryna Sabalenka what she had hinted at in August last year – an engagement ring. Surrounded by flowers and candles, Frangulis popped the question after getting down on one knee.
Sabalenka is now the proud owner of an oversized diamond engagement ring, some six months after she witnessed a proposal in the stands during the 2025 US Open.
In the post-match interview after her third-round win over Leylah Fernandez, the Belarusian indicated that her boyfriend could draw inspiration from the proposal in the stands.
Frangulis, owner of the Oakberry brand, has been in a relationship with Sabalenka since 2024. The World No. 1 has her own signature acai bowl with the Oakberry brand.
During the 2026 Brisbane International, Sabalenka sent another not-so-subtle reminder to her boyfriend, remarking that she would prefer to soon call him “something else.”
Sabalenka had no clue that the proposal was in the air. ‘You & me forever,’ posted the tennis champ along with an infinity, ring and heart emoji. The unexpected proposal, which took place at a private celebration, included Sabalenka’s new companion – a King Cavalier Cocker Spaniel puppy named Ash.

Congratulations poured in soon after, with Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, Ben Shelton and even bestie Paula Badosa joining in. The official handles of the ATP Tour and the Indian Wells Open, too, chimed in with their own messages congratulating the couple.
Sabalenka’s colleagues from the WTA Tour – Coco Gauff, Anna Kalinskaya, Amanda Anisimova and Eva Lys too joined the chorus.
The Belarusian World No. 1 is currently in California for the 2026 Indian Wells Open. She is a two-time finalist at the WTA 1000 event, having reached the title round in 2023 and 2025.
A title run in Indian Wells will cap a good week for the World No. 1 and help put her disappointing Australian Open campaign behind her. Having an engagement ring on her finger can’t hurt either.
