US Open 2026: Aryna Sabalenka dances on TikTok after achieving 'one' rare feat

Sabalenka is chasing a three-peat at the US Open.
Defending US Open champion Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus took to TikTok to celebrate after her win over USA’s Taylor Townsend helped her achieve a rare streak. In the video, Sabalenka is seen dancing while a graphic showing her win streak plays alongside her.
Sabalenka is turning Flushing Meadows into home turf. The two-time defending champion fought past American Taylor Townsend 6-4, 6-3 on Sunday at Arthur Ashe Stadium, moving into the last eight without dropping a set in the competition so far.
Townsend, ranked a lowly No. 96 in the world, gave the top seed a proper fight. Both players traded breaks early in the opening set, and Sabalenka only pulled clear after saving a break point with a booming serve to close out the set in the tenth game.
The second set followed a similar pattern of resistance, with Townsend racing to a 3-1 lead before a loose double fault handed the break straight back. Sabalenka then swept the final four games to close out the win.

Sabalenka has now reached the quarter-finals or better at the US Open for six straight editions, a stretch running from 2021 right through to 2026. She reached the semi-finals in 2021, the semi-finals again in 2022, a runner-up finish in 2023, and back-to-back titles in 2024 and 2025, before this year’s charge into the last eight.
That kind of consistency at a single Grand Slam is rare even by elite standards. Sabalenka’s full US Open career log includes a Q1 exit in 2017, a fourth-round finish in 2018, and second-round losses in both 2019 and 2020, before the turnaround began in 2021. Since then, she has not missed a quarter-final at Flushing Meadows.
Heading into this year’s title defence, Sabalenka carried a record of 34 wins and six losses at the tournament, an 85 per cent success rate, with two titles from her first eight main draw appearances, comfortably her best strike rate at any Grand Slam. Sunday’s win adds another victory to that tally as she chases a third straight crown in New York.
The result also stretched her unbeaten run in the city to 17 straight matches. She will next face Czech player Linda Noskova, with a three-peat in sight, a feat last achieved by Serena Williams of the USA between 2012 and 2014.
