Jannik Sinner is chasing his eighth title of the season at the ATP Finals.
Jannik Sinner was greeted by his fans with loud cheers upon his arrival in Turin for the ATP Finals. The fans welcomed by cheering his name and applauding his presence. He acknowledged the crowd for their support as they went on to sing the acclaimed football song ‘Ole Ole Ole we are the champions.’
Sinner was all smiles and waved to the crowd as they sang ‘Ole Ole Ole Sinner’ and kept cheering his name. The Italian has received the perfect homecoming gift as he has not played an ATP tour match since winning the Shanghai Masters 1000 title at the end of September. Just like last season, he will receive the loudest cheers while competing in the ATP Finals 2024.
He had received immense support and victorious chants from the crowd last season while finishing runner up to Novak Djokovic. The season ending championship will be the final ATP tour event of this season as Davis Cup will be the final competitive event in the sport. Sinner will be featuring in both the events and has now gotten a well deserved month long break.
He had withdrawn from ATP Paris Masters 1000 due to a virus and looked back in shape while arriving in Turin. Sinner is aiming to be the first Italian to win the ATP Finals title and is making his third appearance in the event.
Jannik Sinner edging closer to 70 season wins mark
The 2024 season as of November 4 has seen two players winning more than 60 matches. Sinner has won 65 matches and lost six while tour leader Alexander Zverev has earned 66 wins against 20 losses. Coming in third is Carlos Alcaraz with 52 wins and will need to win all his upcoming matches in Turin and Davis Cup Finals to breach the 60 win mark.
Meanwhile Sinner needs five more to hit the 70 win mark and could either achieve the feat in Turin or the Davis Cup Finals. With his current form, Sinner is definitely expected to finish the 2024 season with 70 wins. He has played 14 events this year and has reached at least the quarterfinals in all of them.
The fans will be hoping Sinner has a record breaking start in Turin. This could also be his golden opportunity to lift the trophy in front of his home crowd as the contract for the event began from 2021 and is expected to end next season.
