ATP Finals 2024: Groups announced for singles, doubles match-ups

Singles players will be under Ilie Nastase, John Newcombe groups.

The ATP Finals 2024 groups have been finally revealed after a long wait. The eight singles players will be divided into two groups. There will be four players each in the Ilie Nastase, John Newcombe group. Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are in two different groups as fans will have to wait a bit to see them clash.

With only three days to go, fans will keep up with the fixtures of each group as they will witness a new era in the making. Daniil Medvedev is the oldest player this season as he is 28 years of age while Alcaraz at 21 years is the youngest. 

The hardcourts at Turin, Italy will see the elite eight competing for the ultimate title of the season. The groups have been named after the legendary players on the ATP tour. Nastase had won four titles in the event and was the first one to win successive trophies. Meanwhile Newcombe was one of the first male players to attain the World No #1 rankings in singles and doubles.

The groups have also been confirmed in the doubles event. Four pairs will be in the Mike Bryan group while the other four will be in the Bob Bryan group. The Bryan brothers have won four titles in the event while Mike won his fifth one with Jack Sock.

The doubles and singles events will not be featuring the defending champions this time. Novak Djokovic will not be able to seek a third-consecutive crown while in doubles Rajeev Ram/ Joe Salisbury will also miss out on a hat-trick of titles. A new singles champion could be seen in this edition while in doubles Wesley Koolhof / Nikola Mektic are the only former champions.
