Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev drop out of the top five of ATP rankings after Australian Open.
The Australian Open 2025 produced plenty of incredible results, with many top ranked players going down in the initial rounds, thereby shaking up the formation of the top-10 ATP rankings. Jannik Sinner outclassed Alexander Zverev to become the first Italian to defend the Australian Open title, winning the finale in straight sets.
Zverev’s pursuit for a maiden major title were futile in the end as he lost his third Grand Slam final. The top three seeds though, managed to retain their rankings with Jannik Sinner reaching an all-time high with 11830 points. The Italian is more than 3,000 points higher than second ranked Alexander Zverev which suggests that he is going to stay at the top for a while.
Former sixth seed Casper Ruud, despite his early exit now finds a spot at the fifth place. Taylor Fritz, who had a phenomenal 2024, went down in his third round to Gael Monfils, but manages to keep his position at number four.

Daniil Medvedev though, suffered a significant setback after being knocked out of the competition in just the second round by a qualifier. The Russian was defending a substantial number of points, having been a finalist in the previous edition. As a result, Medvedev has dropped to World No. #7 in the rankings.
Novak Djokovic, who beat Carlos Alcaraz in the quarter-final, had to forfeit his semi-final contest against Alexander Zverev due to a muscle tear. As a result, the Serbian continues to remain outside the top five, though he went one better from number seven to six.
Alex de Minaur stays at #8 after a decent outing, while Tommy Paul makes massive gains after a career-best outing for the American in a Grand Slam major.
