Jannik Sinner is a two-time Australian Open winner.

Jannik Sinner successfully defended his Australian Open title, with a near-flawless campaign at the Melbourne Park. Following his triumph, the Italian joins an elite group of players thereby cementing his place in the history books as one of the greats of the game.

The World No. #1 continues to soar high in terms of titles and rankings, as he is set to remain at the apex position for a very long time. Sinner cast aside the controversies surrounding doping and silenced his critics in some style. The top seed dropped just two sets in his title run, further extending his supremacy on court.

Such was the 23-year-old’s sheer dominance that he held all his serving games against Alexander Zverev in the final. On that note, let’s look at some of the records which Jannik Sinner broke in his path to glory.

5. Only Italian to win multiple Grand Slams in Open Era

Italy is a rich country in the discipline of tennis. There is no greater pride than bringing glory to your nation on a global platform. Adriano Panatta, a former Italian player had won the French Open back in 1976, Francesca Schiavone emerged victorious at the 2010 French Open and Flavia Pennetta triumphed at the 2015 US Open.

With his recent Australian Open 2025 triumph, Jannik Sinner officially becomes Italy’s most successful tennis player with three Grand Slam singles titles. No other Italian has managed to bring home more than one Grand Slam trophy.

4. Fifth man to win three successive hard-court Majors in Open Era

With title victories at the Australian Open 2024, US Open 2024 and now the Australian Open 2025, Jannik Sinner is only the fifth male player to have won three consecutive hard-court Slams.

In doing so, the top seed joins the likes of Roger Federer, John McEnroe, Ivan Lendl and ten-time Australian Open winner Novak Djokovic, who accomplished this milestone twice.

3. Fourth player to not face a breakpoint in Major final since 1990

The hallmark of Sinner’s game is that he has no weakness. From serving to returning, he has mastered it all. Such was his composure even under pressure, that Zverev did not face a single break point throughout the course of the match, let alone breaking the Italian’s service.

He now joins another exclusive pool of players who have achieved this rear feat- Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Pete Sampras.

2. Equals Bjorn Borg and Jimmy Connors for highest wins in his first 50 matches as World No. #1

Jannik Sinner has triumphed in 47 of the 50 matches he has played since ascending to the top spot in the ATP Rankings. This extraordinary win-loss ratio places him alongside the legends of the game, such as Bjorn Borg and Jimmy Connors.

The top seed is followed closely by Roger Federer and Andre Agassi with 46 and 45 victories respectively. Sinner’s consistency is already etching his name into tennis history.

1. First player to win 10 successive straight-set victories against Top-10 players

Jannik Sinner completed the historic streak of 10 straight wins over top-ten ATP players. The Italian’s streak started at the Shanghai Masters, where he defeated Daniil Medvedev and Novak Djokovic. The 23-year-old carried this momentum into the ATP Finals, beating Taylor fritz twice, Casper Ruud and finally Medvedev again.

The Aussie once again fell short against Sinner in the Davis Cup finals. Finally, at the Australian Open, the top seed defeated eighth seed de Mianur and then Alexander Zverev to script history. Sinner’s rise at such a young age is truly commendable, as the 23-year-old exhibits a level of experience and composure well beyond his years.
