The Billie Jean King Cup 2024 finals will feature 12 teams.
The Billie Jean King Cup 2024 finals is set to be flagged off in a day. The top players from around the globe will be eyeing the ultimate prize for their respective nations. This season will also mark a historic landmark for the event as the later stages will coincide with the men’s Davis Cup 2024 finals.
Fans will be able to witness top-class action in the men’s and women’s competition. The 61st edition of the women’s team event will see 12 nations clash against each other as a record 137 countries took part this season. Previously known as the Fed Cup, it was renamed in 2020 in honour of Billie Jean King who has been a warrior on and off the court.
King has been battling for equal prize money in the sport for decades now and the transformation that has been undergone over the past few proves her determination. This season’s prize money pool in the event is $9.6m as the winning team will be awarded $2.4m. The prize money will be equal to the Davis Cup 2024 Finals.
With a lot at stake, the players will be aiming to end the WTA season with a win for their nation. After having played for the past 10 months, the players will be giving their final shot at the prize. The defending champions are Canada who won the title for the time by defeating Italy.
