Alcaraz is now a seven-time Grand Slam champion.
Carlos Alcaraz etched his name deeper into tennis history on February 1 by clinching his maiden Australian Open title in Melbourne, defeating Novak Djokovic in a thrilling four-set final.
The 22-year-old Spaniard rallied from a set down to win 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, 7-5, completing the career Grand Slam and becoming the youngest man in history to claim all four major championships.
This triumph not only marked Alcaraz’s seventh Grand Slam title but also elevated his ATP singles titles tally to 25.
Remarkably, since the ATP Tour’s inaugural season in 1990, Alcaraz achieved this milestone in the fewest main-draw appearances, requiring just 86 tournaments to reach the quarter-century mark.
His efficiency underscores an extraordinary win rate and rapid ascent, blending explosive athleticism, versatile shot-making, and mental resilience that have redefined modern tennis.
The Australian Open final showcased Alcaraz’s fighting spirit. After dropping the opening set to the 10-time Melbourne champion Djokovic, Alcaraz regrouped with aggressive baseline play and precise serving.
He dominated the second and third sets before holding off a late charge in the fourth to seal victory on Rod Laver Arena. The win dashed Djokovic’s bid for a 25th Grand Slam title and affirmed Alcaraz’s status as world No. 1.
Alcaraz’s journey to 25 titles has been meteoric. Bursting onto the scene as a teenager, he captured his first ATP crown at 18 and quickly amassed Masters 1000 and major hardware.
With seven Slams already, two each at Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the US Open, plus this Australian Open, he has outpaced many legends in speed of accumulation.
