Alcaraz is now the 14th player to spend 50 weeks as ATP World No. 1.
A month after receiving the ATP Year-End No. 1 trophy at the season-ending ATP Finals in November, Carlos Alcaraz has become the latest player to get past the 50-week milestone as World No. 1. The 22-year-old Spaniard is one of 14 men to occupy the top spot for 50 weeks or more.
Alcaraz finished as year-end No. 1 after a three-year gap, having bagged the honour in 2022 when he became the youngest World No. 1. The then 19-year-old broke Lleyton Hewitt’s long-standing record on winning his first major in New York.
Alcaraz, now 22, amassed 12,050 points in 2025, the most by any player in a single season since Andy Murray finished the 2016 season with 12,410 points. At 22 years & 7 months, the Spaniard is the third youngest player to register 50 weeks as World No. 1 behind Jim Courier and Hewitt.
Alcaraz reclaimed the top spot after a title run at the 2025 US Open, where he dethroned defending champion Jannik Sinner for his second trophy at Flushing Meadows.
His return to the top spot in September marked his ascent to the coveted position for the first time since 2023.

Alcaraz, now a six-time Grand Slam champion, is slated to play Jannik Sinner at an exhibition match in South Korea before making his way to Melbourne for the Million Dollar 1 Point Slam. The exhibition event in Melbourne will pit amateurs against professionals with AU$ one million at stake.
Alcaraz had a memorable 2025, winning eight titles and finishing the season with a 71-9 win-loss record. Among them, were titles he won for the first time. These included the ATP 1000 titles at Monte-Carlo, Rome and Cincinnati alongside ATP 500 titles at Rotterdam and Tokyo.
The Australian Open title and the accompanying Norman Brookes Challenge Cup remains the only trophy missing from Carlos Alcaraz’s collection. He has won the remaining three – Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the US Open at least once.
Alcaraz is yet to make it past the quarter-final stage at Melbourne Park. In January 2026, he will kick off his latest attempt to fill the void and become the youngest player to win a career Grand Slam.
