Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka were playing their Round 4 matches
Defending US Open champion Carlos Alcaraz of Spain and Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus met on the practice courts at Flushing Meadows this week, and they had a funny chat that people are now talking about online.
Both players were getting ready for their fourth-round matches at the US Open. During a break, Sabalenka looked at Alcaraz’s hair and told him she was jealous of it.
Alcaraz came to this year’s US Open with a new, fuller hairstyle. This is very different from last year, when he had a buzz cut after his brother accidentally cut his hair too short.

Alcaraz arrived at this tournament after nearly five months out with a wrist injury, which forced him to miss both the French Open and Wimbledon.
The US Open’s official page shared a video of the moment. In the video, Sabalenka said, “I’m so jealous. I don’t have that much hair. How unfair!”

Alcaraz smiled and replied, “I need a comb. To take my time in a mirror. I’m not used to it.” Sabalenka laughed and asked, “It’s such a pain, right?” before Alcaraz agreed.

Alcaraz backed up the fun moment with a win on the court. He beat Tommy Paul in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4, to move into the quarter-finals.
This was his sixth straight win against Paul, and his 14th successive set won against him. The match took two hours and 21 minutes.
Alcaraz also saved a couple of set points late in the third set before finishing the match with two strong forehand winners.
Sabalenka’s match was harder. She beat USA’s Taylor Townsend 6-4, 6-3, but the match had 11 service breaks across 19 games. She fell behind by a break in the second set but came back to win.
Both Alcaraz and Sabalenka are the defending champions from last year’s US Open. Sabalenka will next play Wimbledon champion Linda Noskova of the Czech Republic in the quarter-finals.
Noskova reached this stage by beating Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk 7-5, 5-7, 6-4, in a match where Kostyuk saved five match points before losing.
